About the Programme
What is IATA?
International Air Transport Association (IATA) an association incorporated by a special act of the Parliament of Canada, with its head office located at Montreal, Canada. IATA is the global trade organization for air transport. IATA’s mission is to represent, lead and serve the airline industry. With some 250 airlines as its members, the world’s leading passenger and cargo airlines among them, the organization represents 84% of total global air traffic.
All the member airlines, hotels, car rental companies, cruises, and travel subsidiaries are associated directly or indirectly with IATA, the industry uses technology that is dynamic and robust. The systems need skilled human resources who have the expertise to deliver travel products and services to the ever demanding tourist. The students who are IATA qualified are in great demand as an important source of manpower around the world. India through its globalisation efforts also have some of the Global Distribution System (GDS) companies located in major metros, these organisations also require the knowledge and skills of resources who are certified by IATA. The airline industry regularly recruits people who are well versed with customer management skills and reservation formalities.
Students Successfully Passing IATA Foundation in Travel and Tourism Examinations- 2022
With a 12th Standard Qualification: A qualified IATA professional can gain employment at an entry level or front line operations of travel agencies and airline. The various career opportunities are:
Graduates and Post graduates can gain entry at mid-level management and senior-level management. The career options being: Operations management, Travel Agency Manager, Human Resource Manager, Billing and Settlement Officer and Finance Officer.
Programme Structure and Syllabus
Classroom courses: Foundation in Travel and Tourism. Travel and Tourism Consultant.
e-learning courses: IATA Geography in Travel Planning. IATA Destination Geography. BSP Essentials for Travel Agents. Social Media for Travel Agency. IATA Travel Agents Fees Best Practices.
Internship: Reputed travel agencies that have GDS capabilities and experienced staff.
Eligibility: 12th Standard Pass Certificate and above
Intake: March, June, September, December (For the Foundation and Consultant Course)
Course Duration: Three Months for the classroom courses. 5 Days / 2 hours sessions.
